Elsbeth Guggenheimer

Elsbeth GuggenheimerElsbeth Joan Guggenheimer, a Holocaust survivor, passed away Sept. 25, 2012, in Bemidji, Minn. Rabbi Bruce Dollin officiated at the Sept. 27 graveside service at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“She was a loving and committed mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,” the family said.

Mrs. Guggenheimer was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Bad Kissingen, Germany.

She moved to New York in 1938 and lived in Denver from July of 1955 until 2011, when she relocated to Minnesota.

On April 7, 1946, she married Hans Guggenheimer. He passed away in 1964.

Mrs. Guggenheimer, who studied at the Kalv Business School and Emily Griffith Opportunity School, waitressed at Baur’s Restaurant before becoming a secretary and receptionist at a medical practice. She retired in 1981.

She was active in B’nai B’rith Women and volunteered at the Rose Hospital blood bank.

Mrs. Guggenheimer is survived by her son Peter (Janet) Guggenheimer of Bemidji, Minn.; grandchildren Benno (Laura) Guggenheimer of San Francisco, Rebecca (Lawrence) Whittman of Billings, Mont., and Ethan (Erinn) Guggenheimer of Minneapolis; and great-grandchildren Aubrey, Andrew, Alissa, Jack, Caleb, Eva and Arie.
