Eloyce Pepper of Denver, an active member of the HEA, died unexpectedly on July 9, 2017, in Overland Park, Kan. She was 81. Rabbi Salomon Gruenwald officiated at the July 13 service at the HEA. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“Eloyce was the kindest, most generous woman with a heart of gold,” her family said. “She was an example of what it means to heal the world, tikkun olam.
“She always put her family and loved ones above herself, and was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. To her, there was nothing more important than family, and she passed down that lesson to us all.”
Mrs. Pepper was born on Sept. 5, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to the late Eva and Alfred Karchmer.
She attended the University of Texas-Austin.
A beloved member of the Jewish community, she enjoyed playing bridge, Mahjong and attending book club meetings with her many friends.
Mrs. Pepper is survived by Morton Pepper, her husband of 61 years; daughter Sharon (Scott) Rubin and their children Andrea (Zach) and Jason, all of Overland Park; son-in-law Rick and daughter-in-law Julie Rubin and their children Mallory (Aaron), Arielle, Lila and Noah, all of Denver; great-grandchildren Brook and Jacob of Overland Park; brother Barry (Arlene) Karchmer of Houston and brother-in-law Dr. Stanley Schrier of Palo Alto, Calif.; and special stepsisters Marcee Newman and Bobbe Cook, both of Denver.
She was predeceased by her daughter Lynn Rubin.
