Eleanor Zimmerman

Eleanor ZimmermanEleanor M. Zimmerman, 90, passed away March 25, 2010, in Deerfield Beach Fla. Funeral services and burial were held in Woonsocket, RI.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born April 1, 1919, in Hartford, Conn., to the late Harry C. and Rebecca (Goldstein) Elovich.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she attended the Columbia School of Dental Hygiene.

Eleanor married Judge Irving I. Zimmerman in 1941. They lived in Woonsocket, RI, until 1997, then moved to Singer Island and later Deerfield Beach, Fla.


She worked as a dental hygienist in her early years.

Deeply committed to the Jewish community of Woonsocket, Mrs. Zimmerman was active in the Congregation B’Nai Israel Sisterhood and was a life member of Hadassah.

The couple later became members of Temple Emanu-El in Palm Beach, Fla.

Mr. Zimmerman passed away one year ago.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her children Steven (Barbara) Zimmerman of Denver and Felice (Dr. Neil) Kantor of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren Robin (Gavi) Hanssen and Marty (Shira) Zimmerman of Denver, Michael Zimmerman of Saratoga Springs, NY, Robert (Carolyn) Kantor, Sheryl (Bruce) Butchin, Dr. Michelle (Dr. Jefferson) Herring and Adam Kantor, all of Florida; great-grandchildren Azriel, Yonah, Dov and Meirav Hanssen, Alyssa and Andrew Zimmerman, all of Denver; Mason Kantor, Jacob and Joshua Herring, all of Florida; and brother Marshal Elovich of Connecticut.
