Elaine Hirschman

Elaine S. Hirschman, a social worker and longtime Denver resident, passed away Aug. 22, 2017, in Denver. She was 99. Rabbis Joe Black and Steven Foster and Cantor Elizabeth Sacks officiated at the Aug. 24 service at Temple Emanuel. Interment followed at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

The family thanks the many friends who shared Mrs. Hirschman’s life; the Brookdale Lowry staff who laughed, cajoled and cared for her during her last three years; and the loving staff at The Denver Hospice.

Elaine Stein was born April 10, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., and graduated from the Pestalozzi-Froebel Teacher’s College at the University of Chicago, one of the first early childhood learning centers in the US.

She married Adrian Hirschman on Nov. 30, 1941. Mr. Hirschman passed away in December, 1992.

A social worker with the Denver Housing Authority for 25 years, Mrs. Hirschman assisted in residential placement.

After her retirement, she volunteered for many years at The Children’s Hospital and The Denver Hospice.

Mrs. Hirschman is survived by her children Stan (Elissa) Hirschman and Sue Hirschman (Brian) Daigle; grandchildren Scott (Verena) Daigle, Craig (Jennifer) Daigle, Andrea Daigle and Sarah Hirschman (Tristan) Neve; and great-grandchildren Abagail Daigle and Kiran Neve.
