Elaine Greenstein, a resident of Denver for more than 75 years, passed away Feb. 19, 2011. She was 98.
Rabbis David Zucker and Jeffrey Kaye and Cantor Zachary Kutner officiated at the Feb. 20 graveside at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Elaine was diminutive, feisty, outspoken and strong, Rabbi Kaye said at the service. She will long be loved, remembered and missed by her family and all those she touched.
Elaine Zelinger was born on April 14, 1912, in Sosnovich, Poland.
She immigrated with her parents to Denver in 1934 and was reunited with her five brothers, all of whom lived on the West Side.
Elaine became a US citizen in 1940 and married Sam N. Greenstein. He died in an accident in 1956.
Elaine devoted the rest of her life to her family.
She spent the last five years of her life at Shalom Park.
Elaine Greenstein is survived by her daughters Carole (Paul) Jacobs and Marsha (Jack) Feuer; grandchildren Steven (Wendy), Dr. Cheryl (Andrew), David (Caryn) and Craig (Amy) Jacobs and Scott (Leigh), Stephanie (Dr. Norman Friedman) and Dr. Jonathan (Dr. Stacey) Feuer; and 12 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as the Great Boobie.
