Edythe Smookler Lemberg (Eadie), a lifetime Denver resident, passed away Sept. 29, 2011, at her home. She was 93.
Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the Oct. 2 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Shalom Funeral Service made the arrangements.
Edythe was a caring, compassionate and loving woman with a very strong will, her family said. She was a wonderful matriarch to her family and made sure to send a card on every birthday and holiday.
She was a warm person who always had a smile on her face and served as a role model to her family.
Mrs. Lemberg, a second-generation Coloradan, was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Denver.
She grew up on Denvers West Side and was devoted to her parents.
Eadie married Ralph Lemberg on June 17, 1947, at the old Yeshiva synagogue. They moved to the East Side in 1959. Mr. Lemberg passed away in 2001.
Mrs. Lemberg worked in retail prior to her marriage and then became a homemaker.
She was active in Hadassah and volunteered at the Beth Israel Nursing Home (now Shalom Park) and the Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado.
Mrs. Lemberg is survived by her three daughters Bobbye (Sam) Marcove of Denver, Lori Lemberg (Todd Echelman) of New York and Marcie Lemberg (Jack Trotsky) of Castle Rock; and grandchildren Michelle Marcove, Andi (Greg) Bean and Lexi, Hallie, Izzi and Madi Echelman.
