Edward Alden Schecter, a Denver native and lifetime resident, passed away Feb. 26, 2011, in Morrison, Colo. Rabbi Steven Kaye officiated at the Feb. 28 graveside service at Golden Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Schecter, whom his family called Uncle Ed, had a unique personality and sense of humor, they said. He was frugal with himself yet generous with others.
Born Oct. 10, 1917, in Denver, he was raised on the West Side. He graduated West High and earned a degree in commerce from DU.
Mr. Schecter was drafted in WW II and served in an Army finance division in India.
He returned to Denver and entered into a long career as an accounting assistant with Touche Ross (now Deloitte Touche).
After his retirement in 1981, Mr. Schecter became active in the stock market and gave investment advice to everyone in the family.
He enjoyed listening to opera and classical music.
Mr. Schecter, who never married, is survived by his sister-in-law Estelle Schecter of Seattle, Wash.; nieces Gail (Ron Prater) Marion of Dillon, Shari Schecter of Seattle and Susan (David) Huntley of Seattle and nephews Rick Marion of Winter Park, James Schecter of Phoenix, Ariz., and David (Katy) Schecter of Chatsworth, Calif.
