Edna Ruth Hein, a former Denverite, passed away Dec. 31, 2008, in Laguna Woods, Calif. Rabbi Bruce Dollin officiated at the Jan. 4, 2009, graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
We are thankful for the many years our sweet, lovely Edna was with us, said Dr. Morris Hein, her husband of 64 years.
She was dedicated to her family and friends and was beautiful both inside and out, the family said. She lived her life with kindness, love and dignity.
Edna Duman was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Pueblo, Colo. After moving to Denver she attended Lake Junior High and graduated North High School in 1943.
On Nov. 18, 1944, she married Morris Hein in San Francisco, Calif.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hein was a life member of Hadassah and a BBG advisor.
Mrs. Hein was the founder of Beth Shalom in Whittier, Calif.
An active member of the congregation, she served as Sisterhood president and chaired the gift shop, adult education program, the Israeli affairs committee and blood bank.
Beth Shalom honored her as Woman of the Year.
Mrs. Hein also received the Award of Merit from the University of Judaism.
She loved the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the California shores.
Mrs. Hein is survived by her husband Dr. Morris Hein; children Leslye (Samuel) Prum of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Steven (Diana) Hein of Sedona, Ariz.; grandsons Darren (Andra) Prum, Jory Prum and Shanon (Thalia) Prum; and great-grandchildren Dillon and Amber Prum.
