Dubarry the dog comforts those in need

Mortuary is waking up. The phones are silent. Staffers ply themselves with coffee and peruse emails until Jamie Sarché arrives with Dubarry, the mortuary’s comfort dog. The mood revives as the two-year-old heads for his favorite toy — unrecognizable after endless nibbling — and wags his tail. Dubarry, who is three-quarters yellow Lab and one-quarter Golden Retriever, instinctively searches for the person in need of him. Today it’s the Intermountain Jewish News’ photographer. “Come here, Dubarry,” he motions, focusing his camera. As these two fast friends pose and play, the grownups retreat to an office.
