Dr. Steven Methner

Dr. Steven Lee Methner, a psychiatrist for 45 years, passed away at Los Lagos Ranch, Nederland, Colo., on Jan. 1, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Rabbi Hannah Laner officiated at the Jan. 4 graveside service. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Dr. Methner was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pa. to Margaret Meyer and Theodore Baumann. After his mother remarried, he was adopted by Lothar Methner.

He went to George Washington High in Denver and graduated in 1965.

Dr. Methner attended Colorado College, where he wooed his future wife Damaris; and CU Medical School.

He earned a degree in psychiatry from the University of Utah in 1978.

Dr. Methner and his wife lived in Minnesota, Idaho, Utah, Arizona and Colorado but primarily raised their family in Salt Lake City.

The couple, who moved to Colorado in 2004 to live on the family ranch, recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary Dec. 21.

Dr. Methner enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, spending time with his family, traveling and being at the ranch.

The family thanks the compassionate health care workers who helped Steve over the past five years, including the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center and TRU Community Care Hospice.

Steven Methner is survived by his wife Damaris Methner; children Alisa Bair (Preston Bair) and Brian Methner (Jenny Sommer); and sister Joanne Lander.
