Dr. Baum was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Amherst College with Magna Cum Laude distinction, and earned his MD at Columbia Medical School.

Dr. Baum taught at Harvard University; created the neonatal ICU at the Methodist hospital system in Indianapolis, Ind.; and was medical director of the NICU at St. David’s in Austin, Texas.

In 1992, following an illustrious career, Dr. Baum and his wife Marcia settled in Denver, where he participated in the Jewish community.

He loved art, music, maps and restaurants.

Mrs. Baum passed away in 2011.
