Dr. Julian Newman

Dr. Julian “Bud” Newman, who practiced psychiatry for almost 56 years, passed away Sept. 6, 2019, in Denver. Brother-in-law Rabbi Steven Foster and Rabbi Dena Feingold officiated at the Sept. 9 service in Milwaukee, Wis. Feldman Mortuary made the local arrangements.

Dr. Newman was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Kenosha, Wis.

He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin and his medical degree from the university’s medical school.

Dr. Newman married Syril Newman on May 11, 1986.

The couple lived in Racine, Wis., for 17 years before moving to Denver in 2002.

Dr. Newman, who retired 21 years ago, belonged to Physicians Against Nuclear War; was president of his synagogue in Kenosha, Wis.; and was active in Hillel.

Julian “Bud” Newman is survived by his wife Syril Newman; children David (Laura) Orgel Newman of Oregon, Jonathan (Pamela Frank-Newman) Newman of Massachusetts, Deborah (Charles) Olins of Massachusetts. Miriam Newman-Jacobson of California and stepdaughter Geri Berg of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and brother-in-law Steven Foster of Denver.

His stepson Steven Berg predeceased him.
