Dr. Irwin Levy

Dr. Irwin “Irv” Levy, former medical director of the Arapahoe Mental Health Center, passed away June 2, 2020, in Denver. Rabbi Rick Rheins officiated at the private burial June 4 at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“He was dedicated, loving, caring, and a man of character,” the family said.

Dr. Levy was born Jan. 16, 1933.

He graduated CU in 1955, earned his MD at the CU School of Medicine in 1962, and interned at William Beaumont Army Hospital, 1962-1963.

Dr. Levy was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Savage. He was stationed in Seattle from 1955 to 1958.

A psychiatrist in private practice, Dr. Levy served as medical director of the Arapahoe Mental Health Center and later as psychiatric consultant at the Excelsior Youth Center.

Irwin Levy is survived by his wife Rita Levy; children Gail (Joel) Stine and Paul (Patricia) Levy; grandchildren Benjamin (Theresa) Whittington, Sarah Ronoh and Benjamin, Talor and Joshua Levy; and great-grandchildren Brimin and Azii Ronoh and Norah and Elise Whittington.
