Denver’s Chanah Auerbach introduces ‘clean’ eating to Jerusalem

FROM CHANUKAH FOOD Street, in the heart of Jerusalem, is a meat-lover’s paradise. The winding street, adjacent to the bustling Mahane Yehuda market, is lined with eateries such as Sima, which specializes in kabobs and steaks, Joseph Burger Bar and The Butcher’s, whose names speak for themselves. But nestled among these carnivore palaces is an outlet at 111 Agripas that offers a respite to vegans and other health conscious eaters. It is the Natural Choice Café, operated by Denver native turned Jerusalemite Chanah (Julie) Auerbach. Auerbach, 32, is a chef and food educator who specializes in raw vegan cuisine.
