David Rozenholc

Holocaust survivor David Rozenholc passed away on March 27, 2022, at the age of 97. A service was held April 3 at Mt. Nebo Memorial Park, officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Chaitovsky and Cantor Martin Goldstein. Arrangements were made by Feldman Mortuary.

Mr. Rozenholc was born in Bedzin, Poland on Nov. 17, 1924. He was imprisoned at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. Mr. Rozenholc was later transferred to Auschwitz, and eventually liberated.

“He was a survivor and thriver,” his family said.

Upon leaving Germany, Mr. Rozenholc emigrated to Israel, where he met Brenda Zoberman. They married in 1948, and remained a couple until she died in March, 2013, after 65 years of marriage.

After various jobs – a bricklayer in Israel and France, and as a butcher (slaughtering cattle was previously the family business in Poland) in Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Rozenholc settled in New York. They later moved to Colorado in the early 1970s to enter the liquor business, and then the real estate business.

“He was a self-made man,” said his daughter, Lily Scheurenbrand.

Survivors include children Lily (the late George) Scheurenbrand and Jacob Rozenholc.
