Colorado pushes back on BDS

 week, Colorado joined the growing list of states and countries seeking to push back against the anti-Israel activism of the BDS movement. On Feb. 19, with bipartisan sponsorship, a bill was introduced in the Colorado House of Representatives that would empower the state’s public employees’ retirement association (PERA) to divest funds from “all companies that have economic prohibitions against Israel.” The bill was heard Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee. It passed the bill by a unanimous vote. At least two local Jewish leaders — Doug Seserman, president-CEO of JEWISHcolorado, and Ben Lusher, chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council — testified in favor of the bill.
