Clampitt exec manager at Mt. Vernon for 22 years

Peter ClampittPeter Clampitt has been executive manager of the 85-year-old Mt. Vernon Country Club in Genesee for 22 years.

Originally hired as executive chef, Clampitt was quickly promoted to executive manager.

His ties to the kitchen have not been severed, and he still participates in all areas of food preparation, menu development, and banquet and catering coordination, including off-site catering.

Over the years, Clampitt has overseen design and expansion planning of Mt. Vernon Country Club, including capital projects such as the 1999 pool and exercise facilities renovation.

In 1992, Mt. Vernon Country Club became a metropolitan district, which required Clampitt to become versed in governmental compliance and accountability.

The district includes 99 homes and seven miles of private roads and 1,200 acres of open space.

Clampitt is proud of being involved in many of Mt. Vernon’s activities on a personal level, from volunteering for the poolside pie-throwing contest, to cooking steaks on Tuesday evenings at the tennis courts.
