Charlotte Shain

Charlotte ShainCharlotte Jean Shain, a Denver native, passed away Nov. 14, 2015, in Denver. Rabbi Steven Rubenstein officiated at the Nov. 16 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

““She was multitalented,”” the family said.

Mrs. Shain was born Oct. 9, 1938, in Denver to the late Esther (Shulman) Rowley and William Rowley.

She graduated from North High School.

On July 22, 1956, she married Jerome Shain in Denver.

Mrs. Shain moved to Lake Charles, La., where her husband was stationed in the Air Force. They returned to Denver following the completion of his military service.

Employed by the US Postal Service, Mr. Shain was promoted and transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah, and Oakland, Calif.

Mrs. Shain was happy to return to Arvada after her husband retired in 1991.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Shain worked as a waitress at the Top of the Rockies, a bank employee at Wells Fargo, a store clerk and travel associate.

She was active in the Red Hat Society and the League of Women Voters.

Following Mrs. Shain’s stroke, the couple moved to Shalom Cares in 2015.

Mrs. Shain is survived by her husband Jerome Shain of Aurora; children Jacqueline (Joseph) Somma of Arvada, Allen (Karen) Shain of Aurora, Daniel (Helene) Shain of Virginia and Marcie (David) Hoerig of Kentucky; and grandchildren Noah Ryan Somma, Rachele Faye Somma, Hannah Janelle Shain, Sarah Rose Shain, Kellen Saul Shain, Cole Evan Shain, Logan Shain, Izaak Prats, Ethan Michael Hoerig and Kati Reese Hoerig.
