Charlotte Levitt Kaminsky, 91, passed away Jan. 31, 2009. Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the Feb. 2 service at Feldman Chapel. Interment followed at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mrs. Kaminskys daughter Judy Botvin, granddaughter Andrea Duchovnay and niece Gloria Ginsburg shared loving memories at the service.
They summarized the principles that guided Mrs. Kaminskys life: Let go of the bad stuff, dont fight, make your presence known, have fun, trust in others and never give up.
She was born in 1917 in Denver to Russian immigrants Beckie and Jacob Levitt.
A graduate of East High, she studied journalism at Colorado Womens College.
Charlotte Levitt married Ben Kaminsky on Nov. 19, 1939, at the HEA on West Colfax. They were married for 64 years. Mr. Kaminsky passed away in 2004.
Mrs. Kaminsky enjoyed working in retail sales. Her last job was at May D&F. She retired at the age of 70.
A hall monitor at George Washington High during the early years of school busing, she volunteered for the United Way of Denver, the Allied Jewish Campaign and National Jewish Hospital.
Mrs. Kaminsky, who was active at Candlewyck Apartments, the JCC and HEA, loved traveling with her husband throughout the US. They also visited the Mideast, Europe and South America.
In recent years, she was often seen wearing her trademark wine-colored hat.
Mrs. Kaminsky is survived by her daughters Judith (Ivan) Botvin and Jackie (Ken) Hoffman, both of Centennial; granddaughters Stephanie (Adam Sacks) of Denver, Sarah Hoffman and Rachel Hoffman of Centennial, Andrea (Steven) Duchovnay of Pennsylvania and Victoria (Darren Dorkin) Botvin of Washington, DC; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Benjamin Duchovnay, Logan Botvin and Natasha Colette Dorkin.
She was predeceased by her daughter Margie Kaminsky.
