Charles Marvin Band, a Denver native and longtime resident, passed away April 11, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nev., after a brief illness. Services were held in Las Vegas.
Mr. Band was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Denver. He graduated East High in 1951 and CU in 1955.
From 1955-1963, Mr. Band was a first lieutenant with the US Air Force Strategic Air Command.
Mr. Band married Susan Ellenberger on July 11, 1969. She passed away on Dec. 9, 2006, in Las Vegas.
He was originally in business with his father, the late Herman Band, in Acme Electric Co. The company sold in 1975.
In 1977, Mr. Band opened Cherry Creek Rare Coin with Bernard Witkin.
He retired and moved to Las Vegas in 1996.
Mr. Band is survived by his children Tyler (Michelle) Band of Florida, Karen Seewald of Denver, Gregg (Kathryn) Band of Chicago, and April (John) McGrath of Las Vegas; grandchildren Steven (Rebecca) Band, Alex Band, Jennifer (Durand) Cosca, Michelle (Michael) Schreiner, Bryce Band, Pierce Band, Johny McGrath and Ryan McGrath; great-granddaughter Talia Cosca; and sister Sherry (Shel) Bockman of Riverside, Calif.
