Celia Jo Agatstein passed away Aug. 20, 2014, in Denver. She was 100 years old. A memorial service is scheduled Sunday, Oct. 5 at Temple Emanuel in St. Louis, Mo. Feldman Mortuary made the local arrangements.
We will remember her style, sense of humor and her devotion to family and her wide circle of friends, the family said.
Born in 1914 to the late Maurice Phillip and Fannie Chasnoff Phillip, she grew up as an only child in Mexico, Mo.
She attended Simmons College in Boston for two years but spent most of her life in St. Louis.
Mrs. Agatstein was married to Sylvan Agatstein, who predeceased her.
A homemaker, Mrs. Agatsein volunteered at a local hospital and an elementary school.
She adored her two granddogs Millie and Daisy until her final days.
Mrs. Agatstein is survived by her daughters Jane Diamond of Denver and Barbara Agatstein of St. Louis; grandchildren Michael Diamond, Laurie Diamond and Betsy (Brannon) McPherson; and great-grandchildren Spencer McPherson, Andrew McPherson and Margot McPherson.
