Donald Trump announces the nomination of Neil Gorsuch, Jan. 31. (White House)

Putting politics aside for just a second, there’s excitement in the air that a Coloradan has been selected by Donald Trump as his nominee for US Supreme Court Justice.

Putting politics back in: Not everyone — and not every Coloradan — is going to want Neil Gorsuch — a conservative — on the bench of the highest court in the land.

With regards to Colorado’s two votes, Sen. Cory Gardner will in all likelihood vote to confirm Gorsuch. The unknown is Sen. Michael Bennet, who presents himself as middle of the road, but so far has been vocal in his opposition to many of Trump’s appointees, including Jeff Sessions for Attorney General and Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary. Bennet may opt for toeing the party line on Gorsuch — what that line is, is not yet clear.

What do IJN readers think? Will the next Supreme Court Justice be a native son?
