Carol Stine

Carol Stine

Carol Clayton Stine, a woman of many nicknames and titles that described her various roles in life, passed away Jan. 31, 2021, in Denver. Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the Feb. 5 graveside service at Fort Logan Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made arrangements.

“Carol was always ready for a party and at the center of the fun,” the family said. “She was always positive and rarely complained. Carol will be remembered for that smile and her constant optimism.”

Carol Lee Clayton was born on Valentine’s Day, 1946, in Chicago Heights, Ill. She grew up in Hannibal, Mo., where she explored Tom Sawyer’s cave, played on the hills and cliffs and sailed the Mississippi with the local Sea Scouts.

She met Alan Stine in 1965 while attending the University of Missouri and married him.

The Air Force took the couple to Europe, where they set out on adventures to Crete, Germany, England, the Netherlands, Greece, Turkey and other lands.

They returned to the US, started a family and continued taking road trips across North America, often choosing back roads and blue highways.

Mrs. Stine fell in love with the Southwest and assembled a collection of American Indian art, especially kachinas.

A sports lover, she put the St. Louis Cardinals, Denver Broncos and the University of Missouri basketball team at the top of her list.

Mrs. Stine enjoyed playing games with friends, sitting around a campfire or over a good meal, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Carol Stine is survived by her husband Alan; sister Pat; son Andrew (Kebbie); six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter Katherine (Miriam).
