Bud Figel
Bud Figel, who spent most of his life in Denver, passed away Aug. 28, 2019, in Denver from complications of multiple sclerosis. Rabbi Joe Black officiated at the Sept. 1 graveside service at Emanuel Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Mr. Figel’s life in the Ivy Chapel at Fairmount Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“He lived his life with dignity, humility and integrity,” his loved ones said.
Mr. Figel was born in San Francisco to Ralph and Minette (Dreeben) Figel.
He graduated the University of California-Berkeley with a degree in business administration.
Mr. Figel then enlisted in the US Navy and served in Kodiak, Alaska.
Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he moved to Denver and began working as the owner and operator of retail stores such as GoLo, Pier 77 Imports and Sports Villa.
Mr. Figel later joined Fuller & Co., where he enjoyed a long and successful career as a commercial real estate broker.
After his retirement, he coached young entrepreneurs through the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program and was an active member of the Downtown Denver Rotary.
Mr. Figel loved sports, especially skiing, tennis, running and hiking.
He had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including woodworking, classical music, yoga, genealogy and fly-fishing.
Mr. Figel is survived by Mimi Garrison Figel, his wife of 40 years; sons Reid (Sandra), Brad (Joyce) and Matt (Linda), and stepson Tyler Garrison; and grandchildren Sara, Erin, Claire, David, Dana, Charlie, Smith, Graham and Grayson.
He was predeceased by his sister Roslyn (Donald) Simon.
