All proceeds from the event will help support local community programs offered through JFS in its four key areas: mental health counseling, senior services, disability and employment services, and family safety net services.
Buckley, winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor, has been hailed by audiences for his incisive, funny and witty presentations.
He is the author of 13 books, including the 2008 bestseller, Supreme Courtship.
His book Thank You for Smoking was developed into a major motion picture.
Buckleys latest book, Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir, chronicles how he coped with the tragic loss of his father, William F. Buckley, the father of the modern conservative movement; and his mother Patricia Taylor Buckley, a prominent New York socialite.
Buckley offers insights about his experience as an adult orphan, which has become a reality of life for him and many other members of the baby boomer generation.
I do realize that orphan sounds like an overdramatic term for becoming parentless at age 55, but I was struck by the number of times the word occurred in the 800 or more condolence letters I received after my father died, he says.
Were looking forward to sharing Christopher Buckleys intellect, charm and wit with the metro Denver business community, said Dean Prina, MD, JFS development chair.
We are extremely grateful for Mr. Buckleys participation in this important fundraiser and his gracious support of JFS.
CBS4 news anchor Jim Benemann will emcee the event.
Event chairs are Cary Chapman, Peggy Mayer and Marc Spritzer.
