Stanley Bob Landie, a longtime Denver resident, passed away April 28, 2009, in Denver. Rabbi Selwyn Franklin and Cantors Joel Lichterman and Cantor Zachary Kutner officiated at the April 30 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
Mr. Landie was born March 23, 1927, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frank and Louise Landie. His father was in the grocery business.
The family moved to Denver when Mr. Landie was 14. He graduated East High and then joined the Navy at age 17. He served as a medic.
Mr. Landie married Bettie Wedgle around 1947 and became a pawnbroker at his father-in-laws shop. He remained in the business for 60 years.
After Bettie passed away in 2005, he met Freda Gold. They were married for slightly over two years, until Mr. Landies death.
In the 1960s, Mr. Landie bowled with Bnai Brith and sometimes traveled to play in tournaments. He also belonged to El Jebel and the Shriners.
He loved Ford Thunderbirds, clown figures, going to the movies, and traveling with his family.
Mr. Landie is survived by his wife Freda Gold Landie; sons Michael (Susan) Landie and Jeff (Donna) Landie; grandchildren Darren (Anne) Landie, Kevin Landie, Aviva Landie and Daniel Landie; great-grandchildren Ezra and Alex; and sister Sandra (Bill) Shefrin.
