BMH-BJ Congregation has announced its annual meeting for Monday, June 23, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary to plot the future of the synagogue.
In addition to electing its officers and board of trustees, BMH-BJ is planning a full agenda, to include :
Report on current situation at the synagogue, including a financial report as well as discussion of finances for the coming fiscal year; a report on the physical facility; and the ideas under discussion for moving forward.
High Holiday plans; and
a pre-school update.
Vern Engbar, co-president, stated:
I am encouraged by the support we have received from our members, both financially and their interest in the welfare of the congregation. It is obvious our members really care.
Michael Miller, co-president, commented:
The work by the various committees and the board itself has been truly remarkable.
Phase 1 identifying the issues and challenges is now complete and will be reported on at the meeting.
Phase 2 is also underway, which is to identify options and solutions and to drill down to complete the details and test the viability of the options.
Miller noted, this process under normal times would take 18 to 24 months. However the congregation is attempting to substantially compress this time period.
He also stated, It is clear that an exciting and sustainable plan will emerge.
