Bina Friedman Cooper, a Denver native and lifelong resident, passed away on March 11, 2018. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the March 13 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Mom led a busy life raising a family and caring for our father,” the family said. “She volunteered, traveled and even learned to play tennis at one point in her life.

“Mom’s world had shrunk a bit as a result of her health and our father’s absence.

“She no longer went out of the house as much . . . but she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, and relished every visit.”

Mrs. Cooper was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Denver to David and Mollie Friedman.

She grew on the West Side, an area and a community for which she always maintained the greatest affection.

A North High School graduate, she attended DU.

She married Gary Cooper on March 20, 1960.

The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary prior to his death on Feb. 18, 2011.

Mrs. Cooper, an avid knitter and needle pointer, always enjoyed reading.

She also played Mah Jongg in regular groups over the years, “sometimes risking as much as a dollar or two in an entire afternoon — much to our amusement,” her children said.

Bina Cooper is survived by her brother Verner Friedman of Jerusalem, Israel; sons Devin (Alison) Cooper, Shawn (Suzanne) Cooper and Jason (Sara) Cooper; and grandchildren Etti, Noa and Jonah Cooper, Molly and Finn Cooper, and Helen, Maeve and Garrett Cooper.

Contributions may be made to the Cooper Family Fund at BMH-BJ; or JFS.
