Betty Freedman

Betty Eva Freedman, 93, passed away on March 9, 2020 — just a few weeks before her 94th birthday — in Denver. Rabbi Benjy Last officiated at the March 11 graveside service held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Betty and her late husband Al were synonymous with honest business practices, a sense of humor, their active interest in the community, and most especially their devotion to the Jewish faith,” her children said.

“While she and Al raised six children, Betty maintained her love of music and learning.”

Mrs. Freedman was born March 24, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo. She had a lovely singing voice, played first chair in the violin section of her school and also learned to play the piano.

She instilled a love of music in her children, each one of whom learned one musical instrument.

She met Al Freedman at a USO dance. They were married on June 16, 1946, and built a life that led them to Denver. Mrs. Freedman worked alongside her husband at Al Freedman and Company.

PTA president at Hill Junior and George Washington High School for several years, she also served as a Brownie leader and loved tutoring young minds.

Mrs. Freedman, who taught herself Hebrew, was devoted to her faith and community.

Al Freedman passed away on April 28, 2007.

Betty Freedman is survived by her children Dr. Gail (Bob) Kirschbaum of Denver, Darlene (Raphael) Jospe of Jerusalem, Tova (Mechel) Meisner of Monsey, NY, Moshe Akiva Freedman of Safed, Israel, Shalom Avraham (Annette) Freedman of Passaic, NJ; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her daughter Sharon Zlata Feige Rosenblatt on Dec. 20, 2010.
