Berta Jean Goodman

Berta Jean Goodman, a native Denverite and lifelong resident, passed away March 20, 2017, in Denver. Cantor Joel Lichterman officiated at the March 24 service at Feldman Chapel. Interment followed at Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“The example of Berta’s loving devotion to her family and her kindness will inspire admiration in all those who knew and loved her,” the family said.

Mrs. Goodman was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Denver to William and Faye Cohen.

She grew up on the West Side and at the Denver Sheltering Home for Jewish Children, where her father Will was the superintendent.

“She developed lifelong friendships at The Home and on the West Side, where a remarkable and cherished group of women and friends have remained devoted to one another for more than 80 years,” the family said.

Berta Cohen married Ralph Goodman in 1949. Their love continued for more than 60 years until his death in 2013.

Mrs. Goodman devoted herself to taking care of her family.

“Berta and Ralph loved their grandchildren dearly and were proud of all their accomplishments and their abundance of menschlichkeit,” the family said.

Mrs. Goodman is survived by her children Murray Goodman and Debbie Goodman; grandchildren Saul and Ari Schwartz and Anna, Aaron and Avi Goodman; sister- and brother-in-law Bobbie and Ed Towbin and sister-in-law Phyllis (the late Neal) Goodman.
