Benny L. Litvak, a Denver native and lifelong resident, passed away July 10, 2021, in Denver. Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the July 14 graveside service at Emanuel Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
“Benny was a kind and gentle soul who loved to talk about life,” the family said. “He also loved his Jewish heritage and attended synagogue weekly before COVID-19.”
Mr. Litvak was born in 1936 and raised in Denver by his parents Jake and Rose Litvak.
He contracted scarlet fever at a young age, which left him completely deaf in both ears. Reading lips became his primary means of communication. He learned sign language in his later years.
Mr. Litvak had a cochlear implant in his late 70s that restored most of his hearing. For the first time in over 60 years, he was able to hear music and his loved ones’ voices.
Mr. Litvak worked in the family’s meat packing company most of his adult life and retired in his 60s.
The Colorado Rockies, the Denver Broncos and new cars were his passions.
His wife Sally Lou predeceased him.
Benny Litvak is survived by his daughters Bobbette (David) Morvai and Lisa (Eric Ekern) Litvak; sister Rayann Schwartz; grandchildren Matt (Talia) Morvai, Elliot (Samantha) Morvai, Jessica (Kenny Rodriguez) Hodges and Rachel Hodges; and great-grandchildren Magnus, Asher, Lily, Rose and Jack.
