Benjamin Bernstein

US Air Force veteran Benjamin Bernstein died on November 10, 2022, at the age of 92. A service was held November 18 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Steven Kaye. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

A native of Buffalo, NY, Mr. Bernstein served in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1953 and was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force Band.

His passion for music followed him throughout his life. He wrote arrangements and played the piano, organ and trumpet under the name Ben Bernie, and belonged to the Lockport Musicians Union.

Mr. Bernstein was a well known interior decorator in Buffalo, NY and Ft. Meyers, Fla., until he retired in 2007. He and his wife Miriam, whom he married in June, 1955, moved to Denver in January, 2022.

“He was passionate about his music and his family was everything to him,” Mr. Bernstein’s family said.

“Everywhere he went, his joyous presence was felt with his beaming smile and optimistic warm spirit.”

Survivors are Mr. Bernstein’s wife Miriam; children Linda (Victor) Arnold, Laura (Al Dworkin) Strauss, Karen (John Orlowski) Bernstein and Keith (Beth) Bernstein; grandchildren Melissa (Alea Hamilton) Strauss, Tasha (Ryan Hirsh) Safford, Joshua Bernstein, Amy (Tyler) Hively and Zachary Bernstein; and five great-grandchildren.
