Behind Colorado’s new Holocaust education bill

Dafna Michaelson Jenet (House District 30) first learned about the Holocaust at the curious age of seven or eight when she opened a book in her great-grandmother’s room. “I read the book to myself, went to my grandmother and asked her lots of questions,” says Michaelson Jenet, who with Rep. Emily Sirota (House District 9) sponsored Colorado’s inaugural Holocaust education bill now awaiting the governor’s signature. She learned that her grandfather, a medic in WW II, was in the second wave that entered Dachau after liberation. He was so strongly affected by what he saw and experienced that he could not talk about it.
