The American Jewish Press Association held a panel discussion on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement Feb. 18. AJPA choose “a topic plaguing the Jewish community,” said moderator Alan Smason, editor of the Crescent City Jewish News. The press association invited an Israeli anti-BDS advocate and an American Jew who supports BDS to express their opposing perspectives on the panel. An Israeli professor outlined the historical evolution of the movement. Smason said AJPA had received at least one email from a journalist who felt the subject played into the BDS agenda and refused to participate.
