Barbara Silverman

Barbara SilvermanBarbara Silverman, a lifelong Denver resident, passed away June 9, 2008, in Denver. She was 76.

Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the June 11 service held at the HEA. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

Shortly after her graduation from East High School in 1951, the former Barbara Sontag married Sheldon Silverman.

The family said that Mrs. Silverman “created a home which was a central focus of family life for her immediate and extended family.

“She delighted in being called ‘Bubbie’ by her grandchildren and by many others who were not her grandchildren.”

Mrs. Silverman was a founding partner of the Three Mavens Judaica Store in North Cherry Creek.

She also volunteered at Rose Hospital and Beth Joseph for many years.

Mrs. Silverman is survived by her husband Sheldon Silverman of Denver; children William (Julie Riley) Silverman of Denver, Craig (Trish) Silverman of Denver and Dr. Nancy (Dr. Alan) Kay of Sebastopol, Calif.; brother Dr. James (Elizabeth Tunis) Sontag of Bethesda, Md., and sister Debra (Lewis) Lasher of Aurora; and grandchildren Charley, Jofey, Andrew, Ben and Sam Silverman and Mickey, Jacob and Susannah Kay.
