Barby Goldberg Settlemyer, a native Denverite, passed away April 7, 2014, in California, where a private memorial was held April 11.
Her husband Roy said that Barby had very close relationships with her clients. Most of them call her their Jewish mother. Many sent her food from Jewish delis after she moved from Long Island, NY, to Washington and finally Indio, Calif.
She was very committed to her customers and would always go the extra mile.
Barby was born May 13, 1930, in Denver. Her parents, Jane Levitt and Morey Goldberg, owned the Goldberg and Imperial furniture companies for several years.
Confirmed at Temple Emanuel, she went to Smiley Junior High and graduated East High.
Barby married Roy Settlemyer on Nov. 23, 1986.
She worked as an accountant in Indio, Calif.
Barby is survived by her husband Roy Settlemyer; sons Steven Snipper and Stuart (Sue) Snipper; stepchildren Craig Settlemyer and Diana Settlemyer; grandchildren Cassis Snipper, Nom Snipper, Jason Snipper and Sheen Settlemyer; and nephews Dr. Scott Pizer and Jonnie Pizer.
