Babe Ruth

The first meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum, launched last September by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, took place recently in Istanbul.

Israel was excluded.

When the subject is the presidency of the United States, Bill Clinton — needless to say — has nothing to say. Don’t invite him.

When the subject is the beauty of the violin, Itzhak Perlman — obvious! — has nothing to say. Don’t consult him.

When the subject is business strategy on the Internet for the 21st century, Mark Zuckerberg — black on white — has nothing to add. Forget him.

When the subject is the cosmos, from its smallest particles to its uncharted astral straits, Albert Einstein — clearly — has nothing to offer. Ignore him.

And when the subject is protecting innocent people in every country on earth from terrorism — including Turkish people — the advisable strategy is to buckle under to irrational pressure from the Turkish government to exclude Israel.

Needless to say — obvious! — Israel’s exclusion is for the benefit of humankind.

Shame on Hillary Clinton for kowtowing to Turkey to the detriment of counterterrorism. Israel — nothing to contribute on counterterrorism? Right. Just ask Hank Aaron, a real ignoramus on homeruns.
