Art Kleinstein

Art Kleinstein

Art Kleinstein, the Canadian and American real estate developer and philanthropist, passed away May 16, 2020, in Denver. He was 73. The graveside service was held May 20 at Beth Tzedec Memorial Park in Toronto, Canada. Feldman Mortuary made the local arrangements.

“Art’s zest for life was contagious and every room lit up when he entered it,” the family says. “There was no such thing as a stranger to Art. He had an insatiable appetite for fun, adventure and key lime pie.

“He was generous with his time, money, and love, but nothing mattered to him more than his family, which extended far beyond his bloodlines.”

Mr. Kleinstein was born June 27, 1946 in a displaced persons camp in Linz, Austria. The family later made its home in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

He lived in Toronto before moving to Denver in 1993, where he became an integral part of the local community.

Mr. Kleinstein worked as real estate developer for most of his career.

However, he enjoyed several side professions as a sports ticket broker, unofficial Vail Mountain tour guide, Jewish Film Festival judge, unlicensed therapist to his many friends and semi-pro golfer.

“The void left in his absence is larger than Art’s giant heart,” his family says.

Art Kleinstein is survived by Joanne (Solsberg) Kleinstein, his wife of 33 years; children Lauren (Perry) Rose, Mitchell (Dalia Stopnicki) Kleinstein, Jared (Melissa Wagasky) Kleinstein and Shane Kleinstein; sister Edie Glazer (Morty Horowitz); grandchildren Evan, Alexa, Emily, Leo and Kai); nieces and nephews.

He is mourned by Romi (Josh) Wallach and Elise (David) Sieradzki.

Contributions may be made Canada ORT Toronto; Denver Jewish Day School; JNF; and ADL, Rocky Mountain Region.
