Arnold Mondrow

Aerospace engineer and retail sales owner Arnold Mondrow passed away on January 4, 2024. He was 85. A service was held on January 9 at Emanuel Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Joshua Ginsberg-Margo. Feldman Mortuary handled the arrangements.

A native of Detroit, Mich., born on April 10, 1938, Mr. Mondrow received his degree in electrical engineering from Wayne State University. In 1965, he moved to Denver to work with the Bureau of Reclamation.

In the 1970s, Mr. Mondrow ventured into retail sales as a partner in Up Your Alley stores, which was based in Denver and grew into a national retail jean store.

Mr. Mondrow returned to the field of engineering in 1981, working for the next 27 years at Lockheed Martin and Boeing, until he retired in 2008.

“Arnie realized that life is preciously short and so in every human interaction, every moment he spent with others, he was present.

“He was curious about the world. He was a lifelong learner who marveled at technological advancements. Arnie was a man for all seasons: hero, role model, best friend, who by example taught us so much about how to live.”

Survivors are Mr. Mondrow’s wife Janey; children Erik (Cassie) Mondrow, Nolan (Jamie) Mondrow and Alisa (Todd) Becerra; stepchildren Jennifer (Robert) Tinucci and Melissa (Peter) Winthers; grandchildren Ari and Marcus Mondrow, Lindsay and Graham Becerra and Camden and Micah Mondrow; step-grandchildren Kayla (Aaric) Rogers, Justin Tinucci, Ella Winthers and Abbie Rogers; brother Leonard (Phyllis) Mondrow and sister-in-law Bobbi (Stephen) Grove.
