Anti-Semitism at Conifer middle school

of anti-Semitic bullying and harassment are roiling West Jefferson Middle School and normally bucolic Conifer, the mountain town 32 miles southwest of Denver that it calls home. In recent weeks, an eighth-grade Jewish student at the school has gone public with charges that fellow students have told her she should be placed in an oven like Jews in the Holocaust, and that “Hitler was a genius.” Those charges, coupled with allegations by a West Jefferson math teacher that she received a death threat after speaking up for Jewish and other minority students at the school, have raised concerns about whether a pervasive anti-Semitic atmosphere exists at the school and whether Jefferson County Public Schools is doing enough about it.
