Anne Levisohn, a cherished member of Denvers Jewish community, passed away Aug. 20, 2012, in Denver. Rabbis Bruce Dollin and Yaakov Meyer officiated at the Aug. 22 graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
There was nothing Anne Oma to her grandchildren enjoyed more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the family said. They were the loves of her life and always brought a smile to her face.
Anne, the fifth of six children, was born to Sam and Mary Barter on Jan. 24, 1921. She attended Cheltenham Elementary and Lake Junior High and graduated from North High School.
Following graduation, she worked to support the family.
Anne married Morey Judd in 1939. Her daughter Marilyn was born in 1944.
After Morey passed away, Anne met Sig Levisohn at the HEA. They were married on Valentines Day, 1954. Daughters Dianne and Suzie were born in 1955 and 1957, respectively.
A homemaker and community volunteer, Anne joined her husband in business and opened Robert Half of Denver, an employment agency specializing in financial personnel. She retired in 1984.
Her grandchildren recalled how their Oma loved to play games and taught us all the fine art of blackjack, rummikub, gin rummy, mah jongg and 500.
Oma had an unmatched ability to be fully present, in the moment. When you were with her, she was with you, and you never felt she had to be anywhere else.
She was always smiling . . . She loved to listen, and she loved to laugh . . . She was always positive, and she loved unconditionally.
Anne Levisohn is survived by her husband Sig Levisohn; daughters Marilyn (Tom) Getchell, Dianne (Todd) Garvin and Suzie (Daniel) Kamlet; grandchildren Aaron (Shelley) Getchell, Abe Getchell, Alayna, Marissa, Samantha and Cassandra Garvin, Dori (Shemaya) Klar, Marti (Andrew) Freeman, Adam Kamlet and Erin Kamlet; great-grandchildren Madelyn and Charlotte Getchell, Nava Klar, Gabi and Avi Freeman; and her sister Naomi Phillips.
