Alvin Finesilver

Alvin FinesilverAlvin Finesilver, 63, passed away Aug. 23, 2008, in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Rabbi Steven Foster officiated at the graveside service held Aug. 28 at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.

“Alvin was a very wonderful man who was always a giver,” the family said. “A simple man who enjoyed simple pleasures, he was always happy and never complained.

“Alvin also had a great smile –– and the cutest chuckle. He will be missed by all.”

Mr. Finesilver was born March 17, 1935, in Denver to Esther and Benjamin Finesilver. He had 12 brothers and sisters.

He attended Cheltenham Elementary and Lake Junior High.

Mr. Finesilver, who never married, worked in sales at the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post for 40 years. He retired in 1966 due to health issues.

In the late 1970s, he worked at the Denver Marriott Hotel.

Mr. Finesilver received the “most social” award from Total Long Term Care in 2008 and was honored by Marion Plaza for his volunteer work.

He loved attending the Capitol Hill Senior Resource Center, going out to eat and traveling across country to visit family members.

Mr. Finesilver is survived by his brother Ted Finesilver of Saugus, Calif., and sisters Betty Finesilver and Ida Ruth Finesilver; nieces Diana Schakel, Barb Bertone and Jeri Lynn Klein Ritchie and nephews Clayton Bates and Craig Finesilver; brother-n-law Julius Klein and sister-in-law Jackie Finesilver.
