Midwifery reemerges definition of a successful day at work differs from profession to profession and from person to person. But imagine, if your biggest accomplishment on a daily basis, were to bring a new life into this world. Stressful? To be sure. Exhilarating? Yes. Spiritual? Absolutely. Such is the workaday world of Adrienne Crowe, a nurse midwife in private practice at Swedish Medical Center. Crowe is part of one of the oldest professions, evidence of which is found as far back as the book of Exodus, which records the efforts of midwives to subvert the Pharoah’s power to kill all Jewish male newborns.
