Alice Ruback

Alice Wolff Ruback, director of senior programming at the Loup JCC for many years, passed away Feb. 27, 2017, in Denver. She was 91.

“She will be remembered for her matriarchal patience, wry wisdom, unwavering smile and self-assured independence,” her loved ones said.

Mrs. Ruback was born July 1, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo. She attended Soldan High School.

She married Lenny Ruback on Jan. 15, 1949, while they were both students at Washington University.

The couple later moved to Denver and raised their three daughters.

Mrs. Ruback taught religious school at Temple Emanuel for more than 30 years and also was the program director.

She ran programming for seniors at the JCC for several years and recorded books on tape for the blind.

The family said she cultivated a wide array of friendships during her decades in Denver.

Mr. Ruback, her husband of 62 years, predeceased her.

Mrs. Ruback is survived by her daughters Dona (David) Wise of Atlanta, Ga., Janet (AJ) Gest of Denver and Lois (David) Zuckerman of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren Kim (Elana) Wise, Jordan Wise, Julia Wise, Jacob (Audrey) Gest, Tovah (Logan) Fair, Maren (Matt) Safran, Rachael Zuckerman, Jeffrey Zuckerman and Aaron Zuckerman; and great-grandchildren Ahuva, Tzvi, Emmy and Gavi Wise and Huxley Fair.
