Alan D. Cohen, MD, 78, formerly of Detroit, Mich., and Windsor, Canada, passed away July 31, 2009, in Denver.
Rabbi Bruce Dollin and Cantor Martin Goldstein officiated at the service, which was held Aug. 2 at the HEA. Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. Feldman Mortuary made the arrangements.
The family said Dr. Cohen was a loving and wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Dr. Cohen was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Detroit.
He received his BA from Wayne State University and his medical degree from the University of Ottawa (Canada) Medical School, and did his internship at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco and his residency in Detroit.
Dr. Cohen did an extended residency at NYU Skin and Cancer.
From 1962-1963, he served as a captain in the 16th Air Force division stationed in Spain and Morocco.
Dr. Cohen married Rhona Schwartz on April 18, 1967.
He was a dermatologist in private practice for 38 years in Warren and Novi, Mich.
He retired in 2001.
Dr. Cohen is survived by his wife Rhona Cohen of Denver; children Dr. Joel (Dr. Goldie) Cohen of Denver and Carol Cohen of Naples, Fla.; brother Dr. Carl (Susan) Cohen of Michigan and sister Sonia (the late Arthur) Anisman of Toronto, Canada; and grandchildren Tillie and Jake Cohen.
