A journey against depression

 Greenstein, who endured severe chronic depression since junior high, is now 42. After fighting unrelenting demons for a quarter century, her  smile flashes victory and hope. “I feel as if I’ve been reborn,” she tells the Intermountain Jewish News. “I’m still on medication, which I take religiously. But the debilitating depression is gone. It’s just not here anymore.” In May, 2015, Greenstein had her last ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) procedure. Where meds and therapy provided temporary respite at best, ECT has wrought a miracle. “I’ve had no thoughts of suicide whatsoever for almost year,” she says. “I feel lighter; I feel joy and hopefulness.
