25-year-old killed in West Bank

JERUSALEM — Magen David Adom has confirmed that a victim of a terrorist attack earlier this evening died from his wounds while en route to the hospital. Three Israeli youths in their 20s were shot in a terrorist attack in northern Samaria in the West Bank, near the back gate of the settlement of Shavei Shomron. One was shot in the neck and is apparently the one who died. One is in moderate condition and the third is reportedly in mild condition.

According to a tweet from Eli Lipshitz of “Israel’s diplomatic mission in Canada, the victim was Yehuda Dimentman, 25, who leaves behind a wife and newborn son.

A security source told TPS that preliminary reports indicate that two terrorists were waiting for a vehicle that got off in a convoy and carried out the attack.

This is the latest in a series of terrorist attacks made recently in Israel such as last week’s stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem. In the past month , two people have been killed and 12 wounded in a total of six different terrorist attacks. There were two shootings and four stabbing attacks.

Defense Minister Benny Gantz responded to the shooting saying, “I would like to express my condolences to the family of the terror victim killed in Judea and Samaria this evening, and wish a speedy recovery to those who suffered injuries in the attack.”

Gantz promised that Israel’s security forces will catch the perpetrators.

“We will increase our vigilance and readiness to thwart terror in Judea and Samaria, and will continue to take any measures necessary in facing terror groups in the area,” he added.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said, “Together with all the people of Israel, I send heartfelt condolences to the family of the person killed in the horrific attack that took place tonight in Samaria, and a speedy recovery to the wounded.”

“The security forces will get their hands on the terrorists very soon and we’ll ensure that justice is served,” he promised.

The head of the Shomron Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, had harsh words for Israel’s government.

“The Israeli government is losing its deterrence, a series of repeated steps [by the government] are causing Arab terrorism from the Palestinian Authority again and again to increase its voice,” he said. “We are the residents in Samaria and with us, all the people of Israel will defeat terrorism, we will defeat them.”

This is a developing story.
