Obama announces Holocaust Museum appointments

Steven SchwagerWASHINGTON — President Obama has appointed Todd Fisher, Robert A. Sherman, Andrea Lavin Solow and Michael Ashley Stein to the US Holocaust Memorial Council and named Steven Schwager to the president’s Global Development Council.

Schwager recently retired from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, where he served as CEO.

Richard C. Blum, chairman of the Blum Capital Partners equity investment management firm and husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), also was appointed to the president’s Global Development Council.

Obama’s appointees to the Holocaust Memorial Council include members from the fields of banking, law and fundraising for Jewish causes.

Fisher is the global chief administrative officer of the investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

He also is a member of the advisory committee for the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and the advisory board of the Clinton Health Access Initiative.

Sherman is a founder of the Boston office of the law firm Greenberg Traurig. He is on the board of trustees of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Solow serves on the governing board of the American Friends of the Yitzhak Rabin Center and on the boards of the World Confederation of JCCs and the Interfaith Youth Core.

Her husband is Alan Solow, a major fundraiser for the Obama campaign and a past chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

Stein is the executive director of the Harvard Law School Project on Disability and the Cabell Professor of Law at the William & Mary School of Law. He is on the UNICEF Global Partnership on Children with Disabilities and is a founding advisory board member of the Israeli Disability Research Forum.
